KAMPALA, December 15, 2016 - Former AIPS Young reporter Ritah Aliguma was on Monday reappointed vice president of the Uganda Sports Press Association after two years of massive contribution to the growth and development of the sports scribes’ body. This was announced during the first USPA Assembly for the second term of Sabiti Muwanga as the president since the elective assembly late November 2016 at the Kamwokya City Tyres main hall.
During her term one tenure as vice president she championed a couple of USPA projects spearheading the expansion of USPA to include upcountry membership for those that have for years been ignored. Her achievements in the two years included empowering women using sports as a vehicle and restoring hope for the unprivileged children in slums and war-torn areas of the country where peace has prevailed but with nothing to fall back to.
Ritah Aliguma championed the first USPA Health Campaign among sports men last year partnering with corporate League, spearheading the first East and Central African regional sports convention graced by AIPS president, the first live broadcast of USPA Gala and securing partnerships with Brussels and Ethiopian Airlines for USPA Executive travel were part of her two year achievements. Uganda Sports Press Association is still hailed for promoting Women in leadership and growth.
