ABU DHABI, December 14, 2017 - Fans from all over the world have gathered at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to watch Al Jazira (UAE) play Real Madrid (ESP) in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday night.
Walking around the stadium and monitoring what people are doing and how they are expressing their feelings in front of the gates, pushed me to talk to some of them.
Amina Moughrabi, a Lebanese living in Abu Dhabi revealed how excited she was because she used to watch Real Madrid matches on TV but she doesn’t get a chance to travel to see the team live, and now Real Madrid are playing in her town. “I’m going to see Cristiano!” she exclaimed.
Mohamad Hamadi is a football fan from the Emirates. He expressed his interest in the tournament in general saying that he’s honored that Real Madrid visited his country. “Coming from Abu Dhabi, I’m proud, I consider the entire FIFA Club World Cup to be a festival!”
As an Emirati, Mohamad supported Al Jazira on the night though he knew the difference between the clubs.
Distance is nothing when it comes to your favorite club, Real Madrid fan Royotshi Canaya came from Japan along with his friends because he sees that the Club World Cup title is very important for his club to win. “Real Madrid has the chance to win it and I would like to watch my team live lifting the trophy!” Canaya said.
Al Jazira played an excellent match, testing the defending World Champions and scoring the first goal of the match, but Real Madrid managed to come back and progress to the final with a 2-1 win.
Real Madrid will face the champions of Latin America Gremio on December 16 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
