Media accreditation opens for Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade

LAUSANNE, October 23, 2018 - The countdown to the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade is well and truly underway, with the media accreditations now open. The application form is available on the official website of Krasnoyarsk 2019 and it must be submitted along with a copy of the organisationís media registration certificate.

Once the application is processed and accepted, access to a personal account will be sent to the specified email address. In this personal account, the organization is to then fill in a form for each media representative they will depute. Only officially registered media may apply, and applications will close on January 15, 2019.

The 2019 Winter Universiade will be held from 2-12 March, in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk. It promises to be a grand sporting spectacle as it is the first time Russia is hosting a Winter Universiade. More than three thousand athletes will be competing and about two hundred thousand guests and spectators are expected to visit this festival of student sport.

During the Games, athletes will compete for 76 medal events in 11 sports: Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Ice Hockey, Alpine Skiing, Curling, Snowboard, Figure Skating, Short Track Speed Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ski Orienteering and Bandy.

Media facilities during the Universiade include 10 press centres at the sports venues as well as press zones in the Universiade Park and the Universiade Village.

Every press centre will have ample work spaces equipped with Wi-Fi, information desks, mixed zones for interviews, press conference halls, locker rooms, and recreation. In addition, all accredited journalists will have access to a special Universiade information service providing them with the latest news, photos and videos from competition venues.

Around 1,000 journalists from different countries are expected to cover the Winter Universiade 2019. Television broadcasters may register up to 9 personnel, radio stations may register not more than 2 representatives, 5 applications will be accepted from each news agency and the online media, while 4 application forms can be filed by each print publication.

The Universiade is among the largest multi-sport events in the world, and is organised by FISU every two years. It forms the perfect bridge between youth sports and the Olympics as participants are university students aged between 17 and 25 years, who are world-class in their sport.
