MEDIA FIBA World Championship Turkey 2010 |  | | | GENEVA/ISTANBUL - Following the draw for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey on 15th December 2010 and with the full tournament schedule known, the application process for media accreditation is now open.
All media wishing to attend the Championship are required to fill in and submit the on-line application form, which is available at www.fiba.com/media-accreditation
Access restricted, the registration portal is protected by the following password: FIBA*2010.
Please note that the application process is an online service only; it will not be possible to obtain accreditation for this event by any other means.
The deadline for application is 1st June 2010. Requests received after this date will not be taken into consideration.
We would like to remind you that the online registration form is an application only and accordingly does not guarantee accreditation to the event.
FIBA and the Local Organising Committee will inform all applicants of the success of their requests no later than 15th June 2010.

FIBA's accreditation system allows representatives of the worldwide media to provide the necessary information quickly and simply without administrative hustle, and is designed to ensure the best possible working conditions and facilities for journalists attending the event.
Quick Facts about the FIBA World Championship
Held every 4 years, the FIBA World Championship determines the world's top nation in men's basketball. The tournament was first held in 1950 in Argentina and the sixteenth edition will be played next year Turkey.
Seven different teams have been crowned World Champions. Leading the medal table are the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and the USA, all having won the Championship three times. Spain are defending the title they won in Japan in 2006, while Argentina are currently the world's best ranked basketball nation. The 2010 FIBA World Champion will automatically qualify for the 2012 Olympic Basketball Tournament in London.
