NOC Fair Play award to top judo player

YEREVAN, Armenia, May 28, 2007 – An honorable act towards an opponent has gained Armenia’s judo champion, Jakob Arakelyan, one of the country’s highest accolades.

The National Olympic Committee of Armenia’s Fair Play Commission awarded Arakelyan its highest honor for “supporting his loosing opponent and wishing him victory next time”. The award was announced at the Armenian NOC’s recent meeting.

Veteran of Armenian gymnastics, Sarkis Sarkisyan, was awarded the NOC of Armenia’s Fair Play Commission’s special award for a “lifetime of fruitful service to sport”.
