SOCHI, February 6, 2014 - On Saturday, February 8, journalists who have covered six or more Winter Olympic Games will be honored by Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann, Austrian Sports Minister Gerald Klug, and IOC members including Vice President Nawal El Moutawakel at a special ceremony hosted by AIPS, Austria House Tirol, and the Austrian National Olympic Committee.

To honor their achievements, journalists will be presented with a commemorative Sochi 2014 award and certificate.

Topping the impressive list are Swiss journalist Peter Frei and Austrian Michael Kuhn, and Japanese photographer Hiro Yakushi, all of whom are marking their 12th Winter Olympics in Sochi. The first Winter Games covered among them was by Michael Kuhn, who reported from Innsbruck 1964.

Presidents of various international federations will be present at the event to congratulate the awardees, as well as Peter Schroecksnadel, president of the Austrian Ski Federation; and former Austrian legends Egon Zimmerman, Olympic downhill champion at the Games in Innsbruck 1964, and Karl Schranz, giant slalom silver medalist in 1964.

The award luncheon will begin at 10:30 Austria House Tirol, located in the Mountain Cluster and only a few steps directly opposite the Krasnaya Polyana train station.
