Kim Kirchen makes it four in five years

There is no stopping cyclist Kim Kirchen! The Luxembourg Association of Sports Writers (ALPS) elected Kim and triathlon specialist Liz May best athletes of 2005.

Under the ongoing presidency of Petz Lahure, trophies were handed out during the sports pressí traditional gala presentation at Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains.

This was the fourth win for Kim Kirchen.

The former Fassa Bortolo cyclist, who will wear the T-Mobile jersey in 2006, had already won the coveted title in 2000, 2003 and 2004.

For Liz May it was her second trophy, after being elected in 2004.

At the same gala presentation, ballroom dancers Guy Rosen and Viktorya Fadina were presented with the trophy for best sports team of the year, in recognition of their outstanding performances throughout the past year.

The ALPS Honorary Awards was presented to former table-tennis player Gilles Michely, while archer Magaly Weisgerber received the Best Youth Award.

The celebration was held in a packed auditorium, with scores of the countryís VIPís present.

Best national sportsman: Kim Kirchen (cycling)

Best national sportswoman: Liz May (triathlon)

Best national team: Guy Rosen-Viktoriya Fadina (dance)
