BUENOS AIRES, May 27, 2015 – The Argentinian Federation of Sports Journalists (FAPED) was present at the first "International Academic ARGENTINA Mission 2015" that is being carried out on the initiative of the Autonomous University Caribbean, Colombia. The journalistic mission consisted of the education of managers, teachers and students of the renowned University of the Caribbean currently being developed in Argentina. In this context, FAPED had the opportunity to contribute with two major conferences.
One conference was organized at School No. 2 in Mariano Acosta, one of the most historical educational institutions in the country - students like Julio Cortazar, Jorge Angel and Felipe Boero, and Paul Pizzurno; among others passed through this educational institution. The project was organized from 16 - 24 May: FAPED President, Cristian Torino, opened the conference with the lecture "Between love and hate, the media in contemporary Argentina", where he gave an overview of the state of the media today, also commenting on some common faults of young journalists.
The main talk was given by journalist Santiago Veiga, FAPED, who delighted the audience with his video "Peron and sport". During the conference Veiga discussed what sport meant in Argentina during the first two governments of Lieutenant. Gral. Juan Domingo Peron. He also added a number of interesting sports stories that are timeless. After the talk, and despite the fact that the microphone was still in the hands of the journalists, the students didn’t pass up the chance to ask questions and take photos with the FAPED representative Santiago Veiga.
"Undoubtedly, this was the starting point for the beginning of a Convention and future activities of exchange between these two major institutions (FAPED and the Autonomous University of the Caribbean) – said Carlos Maldonado Ramos, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Colombian University. "Mission Argentina" also featured a visit to the “Classico de Avellaneda” football match between Racing and Independiente, a conversation with journalists Pucetti and Buscaglia, an interview with former football player Juan Sebastian Veron, visits to facilities of Fox Sport and ‘El Gráfico’ magazine, to the University Nacional de La Plata and the University of Palermo, Deportea, the former ESMA, and to the clubs Boca Juniors, River Plate, Racing Club, Estudiantes de La Plata and the stadiums of All Boys and Argentinos Juniors Diego Armando Maradona.
