Maryna Arzamasava and Vasil Kiryenka - the best athletes of the year in Belarus

MINSK, January 7, 2015 - On the basis of the traditional competition, organized by the newspaper "Sports Panorama" the athlete, world champion on 800 m Maryna Arzamasava and the cyclist, world champion, winner of the first European Games Vasil Kiryenka were declared the best athletes of Belarus. The survey involved 98 sports journalists - members of the Belarusian Sports Press Association.

Among the non-playing teams the flawless victory went to the women kayak four: Margaryta Tsishkevich, Volha Hudzenka, Nadezhda Lepeshko and Maryna Litvinchuk. For several years the crew had solid reputation, but the team could not rise above 3d place in the official regattas.

Among the teams quite confident victory was taken by the football club BATE. It is 12th in general and for the 10th time in a row became the Champion of Belarus and also won the Cup and the Country Supercup. BATE played well in the group stage of the Champions League, eventually stopping on the verge of dreams - exit in the playoffs.

19 nominees were presented to the title of the best coach, what is more than usual. As a result, Vladimir Shantarovich won it for steering the team in canoeing. His team has over the years demonstrated a consistently high level, and this is highly impressive. Today our masters of the oar five times step up to the podium in Baku, three times - in the Olympic disciplines. The team of Shantarovich has brought 11 awards from the European Championship, and from the world forum ten (five of them are gold), and earned 12 Olympic licenses.
