PARIS, May 18, 2017 - Laura Flessel-Colovic, double Olympic fencing champion (épée) and five-time Olympic medallist, has been appointed the new French Minister of Sport in the Government of newly-named Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, following the inauguration of President Emmanuel Macron at the weekend. The flag bearer for France at the London 2012 Olympic Games is a member of the Paris 2024 Athletes’ Committee and played an integral role in this week’s IOC Evaluation Commission visit to Paris.
Paris 2024 Co-Chairs, Tony Estanguet and Bernard Lapasset, said of the appointment:
