Basketball (3x3), Belt Wrestling, Billiard Sports, Bowling, hess, DanceSport, Equestrian Jumping, Futsal, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Tennis, Ju-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Kurash, Muay, Sambo, Short Course Swimming, Taekwondo, Track Cycling Traditional Wrestling, Weightlifting and Wrestling are the 21 sports disciplines lined up in the event and Sri Lanka will take part in Chess, Indoor Athletics, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling at the games .
Captain Chandana Bopagoda will be the Chef de Mission of the Sri Lanka contingent.
Hemasha Eshan (Menís 60m), Indunil Herath ( Menís 800m) , Manjula Kumara (Menís High Jump), Amila Jayasirti (Menís Long Jump), Gayanthika Abeyrathna (Womenís 800m), Vidusha Lakshani (Womenís Triple Jump) will compete in indoor athletics events and Sajith Jayalal will be the Coach of the athletics team .
Sri Lanka also fielding three weightlifters in the menís category and E.A.D.K.D. Egodawatte, (56kg) C.S.S.P. Wijesooriya (62kg), W.P.U. Charuka (105kg) will compete in the events. P.K.N. Dayan will join them as the coach.
In Menís Wrestling Sri Lanka will keep there medal prospects on three male and female athletes this time. C.D. Fernando (57kg) ,W.C.M. Perera (65kg), T.K.S.Maduranga (74kg) will compete in Menís event while H.A.N. Karunasena ( 48kg),M.D.S.Madushani(52kg), W.M.D.D.K.Weerabahu (58kg) will vive for the honours in Womenís event. N.K.J. Piyaratne will be the coach of the wrestlers.
T.B.R. Anura Bandara (54kg) and L.C.Sampath Liyanage (57kg) will represent Sri Lanka in Menís Taekwondo and M.R.Romesh will have the responsibility of the Coach.
There will be two males and females competing in Menís and Womenís Chess competition Rajeendra Senaka Kalugampitiya and Romesh Chandra Weerawardena will compete in Classical, Rapid Menís team, Blitz Menís team, U23 Rapid Menís Team events. Mohammed Saumy Zainab and Dasuni Hansika Mendis will represent Sri Lanka in Classical, Rapid Womenís team, Blitz Womenís team, U23 Rapid Women's Team events. Buddhi Nirukshi Panagoda will be there coach during the competition.
Ashgabat ready to welcome the Asia
The Ashgabat the host city has made all arrangement to make the visitors stay more comfortable and enjoyable as the Government of Turkmenistan is fully involved in the projects with utmost care.
There will be 21 sports at Ashgabat 2017 across 15 venues over 12 days of competition. Ashgabat was awarded the Games by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in 2010. The 5th AIMAG Executive Committee will organize and run the Games in cooperation with the OCA.
