LAUSANNE, October 2017, 2017 - As per tradition, dozens of the world’s top athletes will gather in Monaco at the end of November for the annual IAAF Athletics Awards at which the 2017 Athletes of the Year will be announced live on stage. The awards take place on the evening of Friday 24 November and will be followed on the weekend by the 212th IAAF Council Meeting.

Athlete press points and other media opportunities will commence on Thursday 23 November.
On the night of the awards there will be a mixed zone area in the Grimaldi Forum, affording accredited media the opportunity to interview the winners of the Athletes of the Year and other star athletes at the end of the night.
A media breakfast will take place on the following morning (Saturday 25 November) at which IAAF President Sebastian Coe and the newly crowned 2017 Athletes of the Year will be present.

Media accreditation process
Registration is required
Written media, photographers and broadcasters wishing to attend the 2017 Athletics Awards and the IAAF press conference that follows the conclusion of the IAAF Council Meeting and to have access to the media activities and working room (Sea Club Conference Centre) should make note of the following information:
Media accreditation is dependent upon pre-registration on a first-come-first-served basis and the provision of the following information when applying:
1. Applicant’s name (all individual names for TV crews, including technicians, must be provided)
2. Title/position (for each person registering)
3. Email address (for each person registering)
4. Mobile telephone number (for each person registering)
5. Name of media organisation being represented
7. Either (a.) national press card number or (b.) AIPS press card number or (c.) PDF of a signed letter from their editor/producer accompanied by a scanned copy of the passport of the applicant.
8. Please indicate for which of the meetings/events you wish to accredit to cover: (i) Athletics Awards; (ii) Council meeting; (iii) both Awards and Council
All successful applicants must bring their identification documents with them when collecting their accreditation cards from the media working room. Location and opening hours will be provided in confirmation letter.
The IAAF is offering a three-night package (23/24/25) at the Novotel in Monaco on a first-come-first-served basis at the discounted rate of €200 B&B in total for three nights.
If you wish to apply for accommodation along with your accreditation, please confirm number of persons and nights required and your full travel details (dates, flight numbers, time, terminal etc.) so we can organise your Nice Airport transfers to and from the Novotel hotel. Transfers are only available for media staying in this hotel.
