MINSK, November 12, 2009 - The Third Open International Minifootball Sports Press Tournament was organized in Minsk last week.
Sixteen teams from Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus took part in the two day competition which ran from on November 7 - 9 and was sponsored by the Belarusian TV Company “MediaLeague" who provided prizes and trophies.
Members of BSPA played in a number of separate teams and were joined by groups from the Belarusian TV Company, press from the Minsk region and a team from the Institute of Journalism.
The BSPA team won all the qualification matches in its group, but lost in the final series match, reaching third place on penalties.
The Belarusian Sports Press Association awarded the CTV team the Olympic Hopre trophy. BSPA team member Gennadz Ketsko was awarded the Lightning Player of the Tournament trophy which was provided by Paritet Bank.
Paritet Bank's team actually won the whole tournament and was presented with the winner's trophy. The silver medalist was the Belarusian TV Company, and Gulf Streams Publishing Houses took out the bronze position.All received special awards and prizes.
Best goalkeeper of the tournament was Alexander Migunov, the best playmaker - Denis Lopatin, and the best player - Vadim Sugako. Each received a prize from tournament partner the President's Sports Club.
Besides football matches in the action program there were autograph sessions with leading Belarus football players.
The first tournament “MediaLeague” was conducted in 2007. MediaLeague is organised with the intention of the propagation of a healthy way of life, popularization of games and disciplines of sports, and the development of new forms of interaction between representatives of the Belarusian and foreign mass-media.
