Bangladesh Sports Writers Association is the only recognised affiliated body of AIPS involved in the development of sports in this country. From the very day of its recognition by the world body, it is trying its utmost to fulfill the dream of AIPS with its limited resources. Every year BSWA is trying to come up with new dimensions to generate the propaganda of sports through the written, printing and electronic media. The year 2005 may be regarded as a dark episode in the world of sport particularly Asia because of the Tsunami disaster. Not only was the economic, social and geographical aspect destroyed; even sport and its infrastructure was put in jeopardy.

BSWA organised a family day to commemorate the new Bengali year in May 2005 among our members including their near and dear ones to exchange their views and feel free to spend some time away from their official engagements. The day-long programme included sports for children, cultural functions and, last but not least, the typical Bengali dish was served to all. International Sports Press Day was observed on July 2 with due respect. A colourful rally was organised in the morning to attract people towards the interest of sports - its advantages and long term goals. In the evening two eminent sports journalists, Mr. Ranjit Bishwas and Mr. Saidur Rahman Raja were honoured with BSWA caps in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the interest of sport. BSWA is also extending its full co-operation with world and national bodies as well. The members of BSWA joined hand to hand with the Bangladesh Olympic Association, showing allegiance to the cause of Olympism. For the benefit of our members a ”Welfare Fund” was formed to look after the hope and inspiration of deserving members in the event of any crisis. BSWA also intends holding its regular programmes such as “Official Iftar Party” to observe the holy month of Ramadan, Round Table conference on “Obstacles in Development of Sports in Bangladesh’ on November 19, 2005 and the annual “Prize distribution programme” will be held in the last week of December, 2005.
