Monte Carlo, December 20, 2010 - - The design for the medals that will be awarded at the 13th edition of the IAAF World Championships, Daegu, Korea (27 Aug – 4 Sep 2011) were recently approved at the IAAF Council Meeting (19/20 November 2010) in Monaco, and have now been unveiled.
The swirls on the front design signify the gathering of the global
athletics family in Daegu and the official design on the championships
in its event look form. The unique aspect of this design lies in the
curves in the middle of the medal, as well as the full and broken bars
surrounding the medal. This design is similar to the Yin-Yang symbol of
the orient, and it represents the synergy between East and West.
The back of the medal shows the image of the Daegu stadium, as well
as the Local Organising Committee slogan of ‘Sprint Together for
Tomorrow’.
