ASUNCION, September 7, 2011 - Monday September 5 saw the launch of the summit meeting of sports journalists of the Americas organized by AIPS America (Sports Journalists of America Federation). The meeting will be conducted in Asunción, Paraguay, between September 9 and 11.
This will be the first encounter of the Executive Committee of AIPS America which will welcome professionals from eleven different countries of America: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
Paraguay is the official venue of the AIPS America, considering that the Paraguayan Gabriel Cazenave has been elected President of this sports organization until 2015.
It has also been confirmed that AIPS Treasurer Jorge Ribeiro (Portugal) will attend the meeting as an overseer. AIPS America is a branch of the world body lead by the Italian Gianni Merlo.
The Paraguayan Minister of Sport, Paulo Reichartd, attended the opening ceremony, and said that “for Paraguay it is a pleasure to receive top journalist from the Americas”.
Reichartd added: “When Mr. Cazenave told me about to intention to make this major event, I did not hesitate for a second to give him my support”.
As part of the activities, participants will have the opportunity on Saturday to make a tour through the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) head officers and celebrate the 83rd anniversary of it President, Dr. Nicolas Leoz.

Ayer se dio apertura a la Cumbre de Periodistas Deportivos del continente americano organizado por la AIPS América (Federación de Periodistas Deportivos de América) que tendrá lugar en Asunción, Paraguay, entre el 9 y 11 de setiembre del corriente año.
Este será el primer encuentro del Comité Ejecutivo de la Federación de Periodistas Deportivos de América que recibirá a profesionales de once países diferentes del continente americano: Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, México, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Puerto Rico y República Dominicana.
Paraguay será la sede oficial de la AIPS América hasta el 2015, teniendo en cuenta que el Presidente actual de la organización deportiva es el Señor Gabriel Cazenave de nacionalidad paraguaya.
También está confirmada la presencia de Jorge Ribeiro, quien se desempeña como tesorero de la AIPS. AIPS América es una rama de la AIPS mundial que está liderada por el italiano Gianni Merlo.
De la ceremonia de inicio del evento, participó el Ministro de Deportes de Paraguay, Paulo Reichartd, quien aseguró que "para Paraguay es un placer recibir a periodistas de primer nivel de toda América". El secretario de Estado agregó que "cuando el Señor Cazenave me mencionó de la intención de hacer este evento de gran magnitud, no dude ningún segundo para darle el apoyo que necesita".
Como parte de las actividades, el sábado, los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de hacer un "tour" por las instalaciones de la Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (Conmebol) y celebrar el 83 aniversario del Dr. Nicolás Leoz, presidente de dicha matriz del fútbol.
