INNSBRUCK, January 14,2012 - AIPS Vice-President and Head of the Press Commission of the International Sambo Federation Nickolai Dolgopov took the AIPS delegates through the martial arts style and self-defence system Sport.
Preaching the values of self-protection and protection of those dearest, Sambo aims to provide the youth of today “a better tomorrow”. The format of the Sambo competitions is changing year by year, encouraging the growth of attention from part of the the youth, media, partners and sponsors.
Throughout the year that passed since AIPS and FIAS have signed the cooperation agreement, a few notable changes occurred within the organization itself, while the upcoming events will let both media and fans witness a number of innovative initiatives.
FIAS is ready to make a notable step forward in strengthening the relationship with international sports media. According to Nickolai Dolgopov AIPS is set to create the Sambo Special Commission in the nearest future.
The organization has actively been promoting SAMBO in order to give the sport the opportunity to enter the official program of the Olympic Games. The organization has already made a historic step forward, sambo will be present at the upcoming summer University Games in Kazan 2013.
Notably, major steps have been taken in order to provide the sport with a larger media coverage. European Broadcasting Union has become a partner, securing the transmission of the Vilnus World Championship to Europe, Asia and America for the first time in the event history. The organizers have provided the media with a range of services, while FIAS has also initiated the creation of a special commission aiming to improve future media services based on the feedback received from journalists.
During the upcoming World Cup stages FIAS aims to introduce the first ever awards ceremony, honoring both the best athletes and remarkably, the media covering the events as well.
Highlighting the role of the media in the promotion of sambo, FIAS is set to provide assistance in journalists’ travels to the Minsk World Championships which is set to take place this November.
