Street race, rugby and beach volleyball - Prince Harry visits Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 11, 2012 - After a short race with Usain Bolt in Jamaica, the third-in-line to the British throne, Prince Harry arrived in Rio de Janeiro for his first official visit to Brazil where he launched the British campaign “GREAT” in the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Prince is also representing his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II as part of the official tour celebrating her diamond jubilee.

This Saturday morning, Prince Harry took part in different sport activities organised by the British government. The day began with a street race with some students of social projects at Aterro do Flamengo beach. A bit later, the Prince took part in a game of beach volleyball and wore a Brazilian shirt for the occasion. Next, it was time of teach the locals how to play rugby.

During the opening ceremony of the "GREAT"campaign Friday night, Prince Harry commented on the sporting side of the visit. The royal expressed his excitement on the opportunity of playing volleyball against a local side, as well as assisting in coaching a Brazilian team for a rugby game.

“One plea to all Brazilians, though: please, please - if we show you how to play rugby - don't do what you've done with football, and leave us wishing we hadn't!" joked the Prince.

Sunday the British delegation will head to São Paulo, where the Prince will take part in a charity polo game. Prince Harry will attempt to help raise money for a Brazilian NGO and Sentabale, an organization created by him in Lesoto.
