QATAR
QOC reveal year-long plan with 36 world championships

DOHA, March 29, 2012 - The Qatar Olympic Committee revealed  Wednesday that  Qatari sports federations will organize 58 championships during the coming fiscal year 1/4/2012 to 31/3/2013.

Qatar's mighty sports governing body revealed that the calendar of local, regional and international sports will include 36 international championships, 4 continental championships, 6 GCC Championships, 1 Arab Championship and 11 local championships.

The QOC is chaired by HH Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Heir Apparent while H.E Shaikh Sauod bin Abdelrahman Al-Thani, is the QOC general secretary.

Shaikh Tamim is the Chairman of the Doha 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee while Shaikh Saoud is the Vice chairman.

As per the calendar of events, the state of Qatar will organize the Global Champions Tour  from 5 to 7 April 2012, International Match Racing Sailing Championship from 10 to 14 April, Second Squash Challenge Championship from 12 to 14 April, Davis Tennis Cup from 16 to 21 April, Table Tennis Olympic Qualifications from 10 to 13 May, IAAF Diamond League on 11 May, World 9-Ball Billiard Championship, International Youth Handball Championship from 12 to 16 June, Word Club Handball Championship (2012 Super Globe) from 27 August to 1 September, Qatar International  Karate Championship on 19 and 20 September 2012, World Swimming Cup on 6 and 7 October 2012, Qatar Open Sailing Championship from 9 to 13 October, World Club Volleyball Championship from 13 to 19 October, Qatar International Swimming Championship from 20 to 23 November, Cycling Grand Prix from 1 to 6 December, International Cycling Championship from 7 to 10 December, Qatar International Bowling Championship  from 9 to 15 December, Qatar International Show Jumping Championship from 20 to 23 December, Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis Open from 31 December to 5 January 2013, International Friendship Football Tournament from 1 to 10 January 2013, Fencing Grand Prix, Qatar Golf Masters from 24 to 27 January, Qatar Cycling Tour 1 to 3 February, Qatar Women Tennis Open from 11 to 17 February, Qatar International Sailing Championship from 12 to 16 February , Qatar International Endurance Race on 24 February and  International Gymnastics Championship from 27 to 29 March 2013.

Moreover, the newly-released calendar includes 4 continental championships,  in addition the Arab Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship from  23 to 25 April 2012.
