HELSINKI, July 1, 2012 - The
International Sports Press Association (AIPS),
European Athletics and the Helsinki 2012 Organizing Committee are
pleased to announce that triple jump queen Olha Saladuha
(Ukr), and pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie
(Fra) have been voted the top Athletes of the 2012 European Championships.
One hundred and four accredited
international journalists and photographers participated in voting for the laureates
of the Best Athletes of Helsinki 2012 award.
It is the first time that AIPS, together with European Athletics and an Organizing
Committee of a continental championships has conducted such a poll.
Both male and female Best Athletes
will be presented with a special AIPS trophy.
