LONDON, July 13, 2012 - As we countdown to the last 14 days before the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games (27th July 2012), P&G opens the doors to its Olympic Village salon where athletes can enjoy complimentary beauty and grooming treatments throughout the Olympic Games.

To help open the P&G Salon, Mayor of London Boris Johnson met with guests enjoying makeovers by world-class beauty, grooming and hair experts.  The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Having P&G's grooming experts on their doorstep in the Athletes Village will be a real bonus for the 2012 athletes. After long days of grueling training and competition I'm sure a bit of pampering and relaxation away from the spotlight of the Games will be in high demand."

As part of its international ‘Thank You Mom’ campaign, P&G has bought together a team of leading make-up artists and hairstylists to offer a wide range of free treatments, including professional haircuts, color from Wella Professionals, party styling by Pantene, grooming by head&shoulders, Gillette and Braun, skin consultations by Olay and makeup treatments including patriotic nail art by Max Factor.

The P&G Salons will offer up to 25,000 treatments over the course of The Games – that’s 25,000 opportunities for P&G to say “thank you” – across three salons located in The Olympic Village/Paralympic Village, International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre (IBC/MPC) complex and Wella Studio in central London.

P&G launched its ‘Thank You Mom’ campaign to celebrate and recognize the contributions of all moms across the world for their hard work and daily sacrifices, particularly the role of Moms of Olympians as the true heroes behind the Games. The P&G Salon in the Olympic Village is part of P&G’s commitment to serving athletes and their Moms, and will play a key role in providing makeovers and treatments for them throughout the events.

Marc Pritchard, Global Brand Building Officer at P&G, said: “We are committed to highlighting the incredible things Moms all over the world do on a day to day basis, and are thrilled to launch the P&G Salon at The Olympic Village today. This might be an exciting time for the world, but for the athletes and their parents it’s the culmination of a lifetime of hardwork, support and early-morning starts. A bit of pampering is a great way for Moms, athletes and friends to get ready for the opening ceremony and beyond and we’re really proud to welcome them into our P&G Salons.”

The P&G Salon will offer female and male treatments by either pre-booked appointments or via ‘express’ stations (on a first come, first served basis). There will be an opportunity for guests to photograph themselves and share their new looks on their personal social media accounts.

Avid beauty fans can get involved in P&G’s London 2012 Olympic Games beauty program by downloading the FREE P&G Beauty Recommended App; a beauty app packed full of insider tips, knowledge and three exclusively curated ‘Beauty Spots’ tours of London.  Created exclusively for P&G by leading experts from the worlds of fashion, beauty and culture, the P&G Beauty Recommended App gives a unique perspective of London through a beauty lens.
