 CZECHIA
Michal Dusík replaces Zdenek Pavlis as president of Czechia Sports Journalists Association
By Vladimír Drbohlav The Sport Journalists Association of Czechia (Klub Sportovnich Novinaru) has a new chairman after 22 years. Longtime leader Zdeněk Pavlis did not run for reelection at the general meeting on October 24, 2023, handing over the leadership to Michal Dusík. The head of the Czech Television's sports editorial office, Dusík, was unanimously elected as head of the KSN. The committee underwent a fundamental change as vice-president Vladimír Drbohlav, Karel Felt and Zdeněk Janda resigned after many years. The three newcomers, including two women, are Alena Benešová from Czech Radio, Jana Niklová from Czech Television and Michal Osoba from the news- paper Právo. Secretary general Jaroslav Beránek, Martin Hašek, Petr Havlík, Martin Salajka and Mirko Vasić, kept their positions.
The year 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of the KSN, which has over the years achieved many successes in securing adequate working conditions for sports journalists and has gained an undeniable position beyond sports in the country. However, our association must be prepared to urgently respond to the present changes in society and in our profession. To continue succeeding, it is necessary to accommodate more younger colleagues and also the new me- dia sector. Dusík presented his candidacy with this goal in mind. As a sign of
change, the elections to the Executive Commit- tee saw the participation of younger applicants and representatives of the new media.
