19th LSŽF Annual Awards crowns best Lithuanian sports journalists of 2023
The traditional annual awards of the Federation of Lithuanian Sports Journalists (LSŽF) took place for the 19th time in Vilnius in December, recognising the best sports journalists in the country for the year 2023. Mindaugas Augustis of DELFI portal, won the prestigious Romos Grinbergienės prize for the bright- est works of the year. He is the first journalist to win this award for the second time after winning it in 2010. The Mindaugo Baryso prize for the best work of the year went to 15min.lt sports journalist Man- tui Krasnickui for a series of articles about the con- flict between Marijampolė's MML City, accused of match-fixing, and the Lithuanian Football Federation. The Vytauto ir Vytauto V. Saulių prize for the best young sports journalist was awarded to another rep- resentative of 15min.lt, Mariui Milašiui.
A special LSŽF gold medal was presented to the former editor-in-chief of the Sports editorial office of Lithuanian Television, Jonas Ramelis.

Pafos hosts the 34th Cyprus-Greece
Sports Journalism Conference
By Erodotos Miltiadous For the first time in nearly 15 years the Cyprus Sports Writers Association (EAK) hosted, between 31 October and 2 November, 2023, the Conference of the Cyprus and Greek Sports Journalism Associations (PSAT).
The conference, organised by the sports journalists associations of both countries, took place annually from 1982 until the financial crisis of the previous decade brought it to a halt. But in 2022, it was reborn in Crete, Greece.
The 34th Conference in Cyprus took place in the town of Pafos with more than 100 attendees present. The topics discussed include: the state of journalism in Cyprus and Greece, the coverage of women’s sport and the history behind the 7-year par- ticipation of Cypriot football clubs in the Greek football league in the 60s and 70s. There was also a panel discussion involving top Cypriot athletes and a presentation on the participation of Cyprus and Greece at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The conference also touched on the UEFA Euro U17 2024, and the Eurobasket 2025 events which will be hosted in Cyprus and the status of sports tourism in the region of Pafos.
The 4th Sports Journalists Awards took place on the first day of the conference.

In addition, EAK awarded the “Press Office Award” to the Cyprus Athletics Federa- tion’s Press Office and the "Media Facilities Award" went to “Alphamega Stadium”. Honorary distinctions were given to Akis Hadjikyriakou, Nikos Germanos, Christos Zavros, Andros Evagorou, Lakis Antoniades, Petros Melaisis, Leontios Hadjivasilis, and the late Takis Tsamados, who were pioneers of sports journalism in Pafos. Also, to journalist Andri Kasapi and producer Marinos Yiannaki of the CyBC programme "Sports Panorama", to Fevzi Beyar - the first Turkish Cypriot registered with EAK and for his contribution in bringing together the two Cypriot communities, and to Athos Papamichael, for ensuring Apollon Ladies FC entered the Guinness World Records book for their 85 consecutive wins between 2009 to 2014. Andreas La- zarides, Pambos Stylianou, and Akis Kyriakou were awarded distinctions for their literary work.
