Fujairah World Capital of Bodybuilding
I n the stunning Emirate of Fujairah (UAE) on the shores of the Indian Ocean, a powerful bodybuilding and fitness championship was held in October. The modern Zayed Sports Complex, with a capacity of 3000 people, was the place where athletes from different parts of the world competed for the title of
IFBB Ms. and Mr. World.
On the occasion of this prestigious event, the IFBB President Rafael Santonja was very honoured and pleased to be received by His Highness Sheikh Mohamad Bin Hamad Bin Mohamad AlSharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, in his office at Emiri Court, accompanied by the Vice President of the IFBB for Asia, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, sever- al members of the Executive Committee and IFBB officials.
During the audience, President Santonja presented His Highness with a commemora- tive plaque for which the Emirate of Fujairah was nominated with the title of World Body- building Capital, in recognition and gratitude for the great and determined support of the government of Fujairah to bodybuilding sports, Fitness and healthy lifestyle through the years.
A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS TO REMEMBER
The 2023 IFBB World Fitness and Bodybuild- ing Championships took place last Novem- ber in Santa Susanna, Barcelona. It was a success. More than 1,600 athletes from 105 countries gathered at the sports centre of the Catalan city to experience the largest interna- tional event in the history of our sport.
There were five days of intense competition,
with extensive global media coverage, which made this tournament one of the most cel- ebrated and memorable in our Federation's sport. On the day before the tournament, the IFBB World Congress met with a broad agenda that was followed closely. The ap- proval of the entire management of the IFBB chaired by Dr. Santonja, and the confirmation of the beginning of the local Fitness Leagues, which will give rise to continental events and a World League Championship in 2025, stood out.
Federation, the Vice President Mr. Koray Gir- gin and the outstanding IFBB team in Istan- bul were in charge of the organisation of the tournament.

2024 TAKES OFF STRONGLY IN RAMSAR
The 2024 sports season begins with great force. In the beautiful city of Ramsar, Iran, a new edition of the iconic, world-spanning cham- pionship – IFBB Mr. Universe will take place. From February 12 to 17, at the Parsian Ramsar Hotel, we will enjoy Mr. Universe Iran 2024. It will be five days of sports and friendship with athletes from different parts of the world.
Mayor Joan Campolier officially opened the event with a speech in which he highlighted his conviction that there is no city like Santa Susanna - warm, with all the services and the kindness of all its people, for the athletes to stay. He praised the number of countries and competitors present and concluded by ex- pressing “Welcome, this is your home.” Winners, results, and photos are available on our website www.ifbb.com.
DR. SANTONJA WORLD CUP In the leg- endary and beautiful Istanbul,
Turkey, the 2023 edition of this championship took place in
honour of the IFBB President, the Dr. Santonja World Cup. It was an event with competitors from 22 countries, where ath- letes and the public enjoyed a fantastic day of sports at the Green Park Hotel. Mr. Niyaci Kurt, President of the Turkish
